IRCAM ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
The camera is composed of two main parts, the optics assembly
and the front flange assembly.
Numbers in red denote
the screw storage
locations in the ice-tray.
OPTICS ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
DEWAR BACK
- mount four 32/4 brackets on 29/1 back flange-2
- mount four 32/5 spacers on 32/4 brackets-3
PRIMARY MIRROR
- mount four 32/4 mirror mirror brackets to 32/1 mirror holder-2
- mount three 10-32 screws and lock nuts on 32/1 mirror holder-6
- set heights of screws as follows: ?
- place primary mirror with stripe oriented towards TDC mark on
32/1 mirror holder
- mount spring clip on mirror
- mount 32/2 retainer on holder using spring washers with TDC aligned
RADIATION SHIELD
- mount secondary on 30/1 radiation shield with TDC aligned
- mount 32/3 secondary retainer on 30/1 radiation shield with TDC aligned
- mount 35/3 strap on proper holes of 30/1 radiation shield with
washers -16
- mount temperature sensor
ALIGNMENT
- mount radiation shield assembly on primary with TDC aligned-4
- mount primary mirror assembly on back flange with TDC aligned

- wrap with MLI
- connect temperature sensor
- mount jig 36/1 on 30/1 radiation shields short tube
- mount jig 36/2 on 30/1 radiation shields long tube
- check that optics are aligned.
FRONT ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
CONNECTORS AND WINDOW
- mount 35/2A chip connector on 28/1 front flange align TDC -12
- mount stepper connector35/2B on 28/1 front flange align TDC -12
- mount window on 28/1 front flange
- mount 10/1 chassis plate and spacers
- mount electronics-15
- mount 10/[2-5] sides-14
CHIP
- mount four 34/3 fiberglass spacers loosely on 34/4 bracket align TDC -9
- mount 34/4 bracket on 28/1 front flange
- mount 35/4 chip strap on 34/2 chip mount -11
- install MLI underneath
- solder AD590
- solder lower heater
- mount 34/2 chip mount -9
- install 31/1 PC card on 35/6 spacers align TDC -10
- push spacers inward before tightening screws
- push down and tighten align the 8 2-56 screws
- solder chip electronics
- dress leads through slots
- install chip
- install 34/5 chip clip
- install 34/1 chip snout on 34/2 chip mount -8
FILTER WHEEL
- mount stepper on 33/2 filter case so leads are at 9 oclock on 33/2 drawing

- mount three 33/7 brackets on 33/2 case -20
- mount 35/3 strap on 33/2 case using washers -16
- mount three 33/6 spacers on 33/8 base watch out for unused holes -13
- mount 33/5 back snout on 33/2 -18
- mount 33/6 spacers on 33/7 brackets -13
- place filters in 33/1 filter wheel -1
- H in filter 0, just clockwise after index hole
- J in filter slot 1
- Ks in filter slot 2
- open filter slot 3
- 33/10 blank in slot 4
- 33/10 blank in filter 5
- mount 33/1 filter wheel on stepper motor
- tighten two 6-32 set screw so that filter wheel is just above bottom of case
- mount 33/3 cover on 33/2 case-7
- mount 33/4 front snout on 33/3 cover -18
- mount entire unit on front flange-5
- wire motor to 35/2B connector
- wire led to 35/2B connector
- wire photodiode to 35/2B connector
COOLER
- mount charcoal trap
- wrap with MLI
FINAL ASSEMBLY
- mount CTI Model 21 90 o off of TDC on Dewar so
that glass window points to front flange side
- install 36/2 leg on front flange
- place front flange on table face down
- mount 27/1Dewar Body on Front plate note TDC.
- install four clamps starting TDC
- adjust heat straps on top surface of 77 station
- mount 35/5 clamp washer with three 6-32 screws and washers with notch vertical

- connect 77K temp sensor to clamp washer
- mount Optics assembly on Dewar note TDC
- adjust rotation angle and tighten clamps
- install cooling strap using remaining 6-32 screw-17
- turn Dewar so window is on top
- connect optics temp sensor to radiation shield
- mount vacuum valve
DISASSEMBLY
- install 36/3 vent plug on valve
- open vacuum valve SLOWLY
- remove valve mount plate
- remove top screw from 35/5 clamp on 77K station -17
- loosen next two screws on 35/5 clamp
- pull out optics cooling strap
- remove optics temperature sensor connector
- remove optics assembly
